Awaiting her visa for South Africa to watch the Miss World 2009 contest, Neera Chopra, PFMI Pooja Chopra’s mother can’t wait to see her daughter. “Just pray for my girl” is the first thing she tells us and adds that it’s also the longest that the two have been apart. She says, “Whenever I speak to Pooja these days, she keeps telling me, ‘Mamma, you are my lucky charm and I am really missing you a lot’.
She behaves like a little kid at times and I have to remind her that she’s a big girl who can take care of herself now.”
She adds, “She is a little homesick, but if you talk about the pageant, I think she is really confident. I know she’s doing well and I am really proud of her. You never know what will happen on D-day, I can only pray for her and am happy about whatever she has achieved. I keep praying to God to let all the negative things come to me, just spare my children. I might sound a little over-confident, but I know Pooja will surely make it big. I have faced a lot of hardships in life and never knew my kids will do so well in life.”
What according to you is Pooja’s biggest strength that would help her sailing smoothly through the pageant? Says Neera, “Pooja is very sincere, focussed and hardworking. Since her school and college days, Pooja has been very dedicated and she works towards her goals. Once she gets into something, she is so engrossed that she forgets everything else – commitments mean a lot to her. I hope she makes all of us proud. I want to tell everyone to keep praying for Pooja.”
